If you love German Shepherds, you’ll want to meet Bear. Rescued from a neglectful, unsafe home, this four-year-old boy is a shining example of resilience and heart.
He’s that classic loyal, fun-loving, goofy sidekick everyone adores. Bear is also smart as a whip and has taken to treat-based training and clear commands with ease. He already knows sit, heel and down. A foster or adopter who can continue that training will likely get quite a kick out of watching him learn and grow.
Bear loves having space to run around, play tug or fetch, and bond with his people. He gets along great with other dogs at home and in supervised play settings. He’s also good with children, though his size means smaller kids who could accidentally get knocked down need extra consideration.
Like many shepherds, he can be a little aloof or reserved at first, especially around males, and he warms up quickly when he knows he’s in good company. After that, he may also exhibit separation anxiety, but with a stable routine and people who love him, his sense of security and confidence are only expected to grow. He’s typically not alone for more than 4-5 hours at a time and needs to go outside 3-4 times per day.
Bear is microchipped, neutered and up to date on all standard vet care. He’s ready for a home with a secure yard and humans who see the best in him. Is that you?
We will accept applications until he is adopted, and applicants that best match what we are seeking for Bear will be on the fast track to meeting him.
